Trade Unions reject job losses and threats to AFP’s independence

The trade unions representing headquarters-status staff at AFP reaffirm their refusal of all net job losses, of a wages freeze and of plans to put into question the statutes which underpin the independence of Agence France-Presse.

We call on AFP staff:

- to fight these measures,

- to vote massively in the in-house elections currently underway for HQ-status staff,

- to sign and actively promote the "WWW.SOS-AFP.ORG" petition

- and in France to be present en masse at the national protests set for Thursday March 19th.

The joint unions also intend to launch an appeal to all staff in media companies calling on them to back the existence of an independent AFP, indispensable for the survival of news and journalism of quality.
