Delegates
Elected and Appointed SNJ Representatives at AFPStaff DelegatesThe job of the elected staff delegates is to submit to management all demands and complaints, both individual and collective, on behalf of staff. Management is obliged to convene a meeting of staff delegates at least once a month. The delegates are elected by staff every two years; the last such elections at AFP took place in March/April 2009. Main Delegates: Sophie Lautier (General News service), Yves-Claude Llorca (Europe Desk), Alternates: Eloi Rouyer (Marseilles bureau), Juliette Collen (Society service) Delegates to the Works CommitteeThe Comité d’entreprise (CE), or works committee, is charged with representing the collective interests of employees as regards decisions pertaining to the company’s management and financial and economic health. It has a mainly consultative role, but is allowed to commission studies and may in certain circumstances demand the suspension of certain decisions pending further study. Works Committee delegates are elected by staff every two years; the last such poll at AFP took place in March/April 2009. Main Delegates: Matthieu Demeestere (General News service), Dimitri de Kochko (Economics desk) Alternates: Jean-Louis Doublet (Economics service), Fabrice Randoux (Economics desk) Union-appointed delegate: Olivier Laban-Mattei (Pictures department) Hygiene, Health and Working Conditions Committee DelegatesThe Hygiene, Health and Working Conditions Committee has the power to hold investigations, commission studies and carry out emergency checks on the fields under its purview. Its members are voted in every two years by an electoral college made up of the representatives elected by staff as a whole. Chaired by a member of management, the committee has to meet at least four times per year. Main Delegate: Dominique Savary (Horse Racing service), Boris Cambreleng (Society service) Union-Appointed Delegate: Véronique Buttin-Malamitsas (France Desk) Union-Appointed DelegatesUnion delegates are appointed by the trade union head office, which usually selects somebody proposed by the branch. They have the right to take part in all representative bodies and meetings, and are the sole representatives entitled to sign bargaining agreements on behalf of the union.
