About This Site
This site was created in September 2003 by David Sharp, journalist at AFP’s Paris headquarters and a former SNJ member. Since 2007, the website is managed by Frederic Pouchot, currently business reporter at AFP’s London bureau. Confidentiality & "Spam"The managers of this site will under no circumstances divulge to third parties the identities or e-mail addresses, or any other personal details, of persons who contact the site or who sign up for its mailing lists. The company that hosts this site (see below) applies standard mechanisms to avoid the proliferation of unwanted commercial e-mail, and notably blocks any use of the snj-afp.org domain to relay such messages. Accessibility, CookiesExcept for the management of registered editors, the site does not use "cookies" to keep tabs on its users. Similarly, this site is designed to be viewable with absolutely any type of computer and any type of viewing software. (If you think I’m mistaken, please let me know). Navigational ConventionsIn line with a long-standing convention on the Internet, all links on this site consist of text coloured in blue and underlined. If something is blue and underlined, it’s a link; if it isn’t, it isn’t. For all links which don’t need to be clicked on repeatedly, the colour will change (usually to a paler blue) if you’ve already visited the page or site in question. This can help you keep track of what you’ve read and what you haven’t. In many cases, if you place your cursor over a link, you will see a small information box telling you a little more about what will happen if you click on it. (This may not work with some older computers). AcknowledgementsAs mentioned earlier, the website’s creator is David Sharp, who spent countless hours and invaluable efforts to develop it. You can visit his blog at http://www.sharp-words.com/. Hosting: This site is hosted by Haisoft, an Internet company based in the French city of Orléans. Their web address is http://www.haisoft.fr/, and I heartily recommend them. Programming: For the technically-inclined, the site is managed via a scripting system called SPIP, part of the "open-source" software movement. You can find out more at their web site, http://www.spip.net/en. Mailing Lists: The mailing lists offered via this site are run by an open-source program called "Mailman".
